Dr Sam Snelling, Specialist Surgeon; Heart Murmurs; Red Moons and Crazy Pets – Ep 21

Strap in TVTP fans, here is Episode 21 for your listening enjoyment!

Join us for our first foray into “Long Distance” Podcasting, as after a busy day Go Karting and Laser Tagging (Lewis) and Fun Running (Robbie), the tyranny of distance is no match for the power of podcasting!

Dr Robbie talks about some pet tips for helping to get your pets into bed, Dr Lewis talks about the recent Red Moon we’ve had in Melbourne, and some “interesting” facts about the effects of the full moon on pets (and people)! We also talk about the Love Your Pet, Love Your Vet Campaign, and Lewis’s Mentoring of New Graduate Vets.

In our Second Part of our road trip, we are joined by Dr Sam Snelling, Specialist Veterinary Surgeon and Director at Advanced Vet Care in Kensington. We talk about what got him excited about surgery, and as a special for our Dachshund listeners, we talk about spinal problems that can require surgery.

We then discuss Heart Murmurs – what they are, what they mean, and what needs to be done.

Let us know that you read to this part of the site – Write to Dr Robbie on Instagram and say “Dr Robbie, I read to the end of your blurb, and you should be more funny”.

Thank you, good night, happy listening, and pat your pet (or someone else’s, just ask permission. Especially if it’s a Salt Water Crocodile. Or a Tiger Snake. Or a Rhinoceros. Especially if it’s a Rhinoceros…)

Love your vet, vet fees, older pets, licking feet, Dr Sally FeelGood Cockburn & dog bites – Episode 11

Robbie has had a rough week at work and talks seriously about trusting your vet. Vets are under a lot of pressure at times to provide a diagnosis and treat any pet’s problem, often when owners do not have a lot of money for tests – so take it easy on your vet.

Robbie and Lewis realise they come from different sides of the track when they are confused about the childish words on an upside down calculator.

Dr Feelgood AKA Sally Cockburn collapsed from blood clot in lungs and was miraculously saved by her Shitzu Cavalier cross dog. Robbie and Lewis are slightly skeptical of her dog’s intentions.

Robbie gives us the top tips to looking after your older pet and knowing if there is a problem. Lewis talks about the Guinness Book of Records for the oldest dog and the guys get some dubious tips from social media to looking after your older pet. We learn that Robbie has treated a cat that was older than him.

A child being bitten by a dog is in the news again and Lewis tackles the topic to give listeners the facts.

Mailbag discusses fluffy white dogs who have dark-brown, stained feet all the time. What is it? Listen to find out!
